Install on your computer

Install remotxai on the computer where your agents run. It runs as a small background service and starts when you log in.

Before you start

• macOS (Apple silicon or Intel) or Linux (x64). Windows is not supported.
• A normal user account. The installer refuses to run as root.
• curl and tar on the computer.
• About 170 MB to download and 480 MB of disk space. You do not need Node.js. remotxai brings its own.
• Your agent programs (claude, codex or pi) installed and signed in. remotxai starts them and does not sign in for you.

Install

1. Open a terminal on the computer.
2. Run:

curl -fsSL https://app.remotxai.com/install.sh | sh

The installer checks the signature and hash of what it downloads, unpacks it into ~/.remotxai, adds ~/.remotxai/bin to your shell profile and starts the background service.

3. Open a new terminal window so the remotxai command is on your path.

Check that it works

Run:

remotxai doctor

Every line should say PASS. A WARN line is safe to ignore until you use that feature. A FAIL line names what to fix. Troubleshooting covers the common ones.

On Linux, terminal features are limited for now. Sessions you start from the phone work normally.
