Files and attachments

You can send the agent a file with any message. It can be a screenshot, a PDF, a log, an EPUB, a zip, a Word document or anything else.

Attach a file

1. In the composer, choose Attach a file. On a computer you can also drag a file onto the page. The page says Drop to attach.
2. Pick the file. A chip appears with its name and upload progress.
3. Type your message and send it.

To remove a file before you send, choose Remove attachment on its chip. To look at it, choose the chip.

Size limits

• Each file: up to 8 MiB.
• Each message: up to 20 MiB of files in total.
• An empty file is refused.

The attach button shows the exact limits for your computer when you hover it. If a file is too large, the app says which one and by how much.

What the agent gets

File	What the agent sees
Image up to 3.75 MB	The image itself. The app shrinks large photos first.
Text up to 64 KiB	The text itself.
PDF	The PDF, when the agent reads PDFs. Claude Code does. If yours cannot, the app says so and asks for an image or text.
Anything else, or over those	A line with the file’s path on your computer, its type and its size. The agent opens it with its own tools, such as a shell command.

So a big text file or an EPUB still arrives. The agent decides how to read it.

If something goes wrong

• HEIC photo that cannot be converted. Pick it from the photo library so it arrives as JPEG, or export it as JPEG.
• Upload stalled. Check the connection, then tap the chip to retry.
• This session’s harness can’t read that file type. Send an image or text instead, or use Claude Code for PDFs.
• The computer is busy with other uploads. Try again in a minute.
• Old computer. If the computer runs an older remotxai, it only accepts images, PDFs and text. Run remotxai upgrade on it.

Files the agent makes

When the agent writes a report, a mockup or an HTML page, open it from the session to preview it in the app. A file outside the session’s folder needs your approval first. You can approve the single file or its whole folder for 15 minutes.
