Secrets

A secret is a value the agent needs, such as an API token. Do not paste it into a message. Send it as a secret.

Send a secret

1. In the session, choose Send a secret in the composer.
2. Under Name, type a name in capital letters, digits and underscores, starting with a letter. For example API_TOKEN.
3. Under Value, type the value. It needs at least 4 characters. Show value lets you check it.
4. Choose Send secret.

The value goes to a private file on your computer. The chat only shows the name. The agent reads the file when a command needs it.

How long it lasts

The secret is removed when the session ends or when remotxai restarts on the computer. Send it again for a new session.

What stays private

The value travels over the same end-to-end encrypted link as everything else, so remotxai servers cannot read it. It is not in the transcript. The agent can still read it and could print it, because it uses it. Send only what the task needs.
